1900 $10 MS66 PCGS. While the 1900 eagle is a common date, in Gem condition or finer it is quite rare, and this is the only example certified MS66 at PCGS, with an added three pieces so graded at NGC (3/07). The coin is just what one would expect from a Premium Gem piece, with a generous quota of radiant luster, superlative, virtually mark-free surfaces, and tons of eye appeal. In addition to the clean surfaces, much of the above-mentioned eye appeal is derived from the rich reddish patina that is occasionally interspersed with faint tinges of lilac. A wispy reverse peripheral die crack connects the letter tops at their stress points. The "double-zero" date might also be a plus for a collector wishing to assemble a "creatively different" 1900-2000 type set--or perhaps even an 1800-1900-2000 type set for the truly ambitious (and prosperous) collector. Population: 1 in 66, 0 finer (3/07). (#8745)
