Gold Coins of France

The earliest coins of France are Greek under the Tribes of Gaul. Modern French Gold coins start with the English King Edward III in 1327. The first French King was Charles in 1468. French gold was issued by various noblemen, churchman and cities. Parts of France were under Spanish kings until consolidation of power in under Louis IX. France as we know it starts around 1498 with Louis XII. Modern France begins in 1793 with the First Republic. French 20 Francs come with Napoleon III, Angles or Roosters.
