Gold Coins of Albania

Originally part of the northern most area of the Imperial Roman Empire, it became part of the Bulgarian Empire in the ninth century, and the Ottoman Empire between 1481 and 1912. Albania was briefly independent between 1925 and 1939 when it issued its own coins. It was occupied by the Nazi Germans in 1939 and later the Russians in 1945.
